Aboriginal uses:


  • The fresh unfolding tips and the horizontal rhizomes between ferns can be consumed after preparation.

  • They are usually soaked in water and then dried for a few days.

  • The hairs on the tips should be picked or burnt off as they can be an irritant.

  • This plant is toxic when consumed raw and in large quantities and has been linked to stomach cancer.
