Salinity hazard (van Gool, D., Tille, P. and Moore, G.)2005This extract from the Land Evaluation Standards for Land Resource Mapping specifies the standards used to assess the land quality - salinity hazard - during land resource surveys conducted by the Department of Agriculture WA.
Airborne geophysics - a tool for salinity control (George, R.)2001Airborne geophysics has been used as the primary method of mineral exploration in Western Australia since the 1950s. Magnetics and radiometrics are used in most surveys and since the 1980s electromagnetic systems have also been developed. Application of these datasets for land management began in the mid-1980s, although significant analysis and interpretation has been undertaken for farm and catchment planning only in the last five years.
Measuring salinity on the farm (Chandler, K., Bennett, D. and George, R.)2001Livestock and crops all have different tolerances to salt. Measuring water and soil salinity therefore allows saline water to be used more appropriately. This farmnote describes how to sample for, and how to measure soil and water salinity. It also describes how to interpret the results.
Site assessments (Keen, M.)2005Describes the processes for collecting and recording site data as part of the preliminary tasks leading to a landscape or project design. This applies to landscape and project designs for catchments of any size and includes designs for the installation of earthworks, revegegation, land use planning or implementation of erosion and sediment control practices.
Site Evaluation and Option Selection Process(National Dryland Salinity Program (NDSP))2001This website and reference page allows you to browse through the steps you need to take to assess an engineering option which might be suitable for your dryland salinity problem
SLIP (Shared Land Information Platform) NRM focus(Government of Western Australia)2007SLIP NRM provides a single point of access to State agency data on natural resources - presented as information products, rather than a multitude of data that need to be interpreted. State NRM agencies have been funded through the SLIP NRM focus area to deliver a system for accessing a limited number of data and information products sourced from the Departments of Agriculture (DAWA), Conservation and Land Management (CALM) and Environment (DoE).
Signs of salinity (Land & Water Australia.)2002The early signs of salinity are often thought to be caused by something else (e.g. lack of fertiliser). Substantial yield losses can occur before definite signs of salinity become visible.
Land Monitor(Government of Western Australia)2008Land Monitor is a coordinated initiative to map and monitor changes in the area of salt-affected land from 1988. Outputs include (1) maps and data of salinity trends (2) information to assist with predicting areas at risk from future salinisation (3) monitoring of changes in the amount and quality of remnant vegetation and areas of revegetation from 1988 and (4) preparation of highly accurate digital elevation models (DEM) from which 2 metre contour intervals can be created. Maps can be viewed online at the Land Monitor website.
AGMAPS(Department of Agriculture Western Australia)2005The AGMAPS series of CD-ROM cover around 4 million hectares of the WA agricultural region and provide information associated with soil identification, issues and management. More recent versions include information on native vegetation, biodiversity, weeds, pest and water management.

Surface salinity (van Gool, D., Tille, P. and Moore, G.)2005This extract from the Land Evaluation Standards for Land Resource Mapping specifies the standards used to assess the land quality - surface salinity (existing) - during land resource surveys conducted by the Department of Agriculture WA.
