Airborne geophysics - a tool for salinity control (George, R.)2001Airborne geophysics has been used as the primary method of mineral exploration in Western Australia since the 1950s. Magnetics and radiometrics are used in most surveys and since the 1980s electromagnetic systems have also been developed. Application of these datasets for land management began in the mid-1980s, although significant analysis and interpretation has been undertaken for farm and catchment planning only in the last five years.

Land Monitor(Government of Western Australia)2008Land Monitor is a coordinated initiative to map and monitor changes in the area of salt-affected land from 1988. Outputs include (1) maps and data of salinity trends (2) information to assist with predicting areas at risk from future salinisation (3) monitoring of changes in the amount and quality of remnant vegetation and areas of revegetation from 1988 and (4) preparation of highly accurate digital elevation models (DEM) from which 2 metre contour intervals can be created. Maps can be viewed online at the Land Monitor website.
Salinity - Areas Likely to be Saline(Department of Agriculture and Food, WA)2008Spatial theme in the SLIP NRM providing areas likely to be saline as a consequence of rising water tables. Suitable for regional, sub-regional and local planning scales. Use AGMAPS products where available (see http://www.agric.wa.gov.au) for property and site scale assessments.

Themes mapped include salinity risk, waterlogging, water erosion, wind erosion, phosphorus export risk, subsurface acidification, flood risk, subsurface compaction, and water repellence. Displays zones, systems and subsystems and associated attribute data. Useful for regional, sub-regional, catchment and local government scale strategic planning.
